Privacy policy
Last updated 4 October 2026
This page explains what information Fika keeps, why, and what you can do about it. It covers organizers and the guests they invite.
1.What we keep
About you, the organizer: your name, your email address and your sign-in. Your password is never kept in a form anyone can read.
About your events: the title, date, time, venue and the other details you enter, including who guests contact to confirm and where they pay their pledges.
About your guests: the names and phone numbers you add, their invitation type, your notes, and any pledges and payments you record for them.
About messages and payments: which invitations and reminders were sent or failed, and for each purchase the paying phone number, the amount, the mobile money provider and its reference. We never see your mobile money PIN.
2.How we use it
To run your events: to show your guest list, draw each guest's card, send your invitations and reminders, and keep your pledge balances.
To take payment for sends and to keep the records of those payments.
To keep Fika working and safe: to fix problems and to stop misuse.
We do not sell your information or your guests' information, and we do not use guests' numbers for advertising.
3.Your guests' information
Guests' details are given to us by the organizer who invites them, and are used only for that organizer's event.
A guest who wants their details corrected or removed can ask the organizer, or ask us.
4.Who we share it with
Only the services needed to do the work: WhatsApp and the mobile networks that carry your messages, the mobile money providers that process payments, and the companies that host Fika.
We may also share information when the law requires it.
5.Cookies
Fika uses a cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising cookies.
6.How long we keep it
We keep your information for as long as you have an account. Deleting an event removes its guest list. Records of payments are kept for as long as accounting and the law require.
7.Your choices
You can see and change your events and guests at any time, and delete them. You can ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it, or to delete your account.
These rights also come from the law that applies to you, including Tanzania's Personal Data Protection Act.
8.Keeping it safe
Information travels to and from Fika over an encrypted connection, and only you can open your events. No system is perfectly safe; if something goes wrong that affects you, we will tell you.
9.Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version.
